Our Journey of Healing & Service

Founded in October 2018, our organization started a mission to invoke change while healing one another amongst the women in our community. Outreach is a major part of Sisters Healing Sisters mission through feeding the homeless population in the Hampton Roads Community, sponsoring families on such occasions as back to school and Christmas, and also creating a closet of gently used and new clothes and shoes for people in need to shop for free. In addition to outreach Sisters Healing Sisters Inc. links clients to resources and also holds free educational workshops on topics and issues that are relevant to the community. Through community partnerships, our organization has been able to impact the Hampton Roads community in a large way. Since forming Sisters Healing Sisters has fed hundreds of people in need, connected many clients to resources, sponsored a great amount of families, and helped to educate groups of learners on various subjects such as financial literacy, career readiness, mental health, and bullying. There is still work in Hampton Roads and beyond to do, Sisters Healing Sisters will continue to do our part in completing the task.

Nicole Atkins, Vice-President

I’m Nicole a mother of two and owner of “Neveah’s Touch Mobile Day Spa LLC.” My daughter Anaja is an 18-year-old honor student and future Psychologist. My son Ameer is a 16-year-old aspiring Zoologist who knows any and everything you would like to know about reptiles or any other animal for that matter.  Between the two of them, they not only keep me busy and on my toes.  They keep my life filled with endless joy, love and laughter.

My passion to help those in need goes back as far as I can remember.  I’m the person who feels guilty for not having cash to give a homeless person that we may pass or will give them the food that I purchased for myself.  I have raised my kids to have that same love and compassion for people.  So it was only natural that when our President and Founder Rickkita Taylor asked me to become the Vice President of her organization I accepted the challenge.

Matthew 25:34-40 reads……..

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

This is what I envisioned when she shared her vision. For me a vision that mimics Gods heart is a vision that I want to help come to fruition!
